Pros and Cons of Reading Books Related to Bible

Religion has both brought mankind together. It has also divided them over the centuries. Generally speaking, spiritual faith is generally on the decline in Western countries. It is, but rising in other places in the world. There are so many movies and books written on it too. Some are adaptations of the bible like Why God by Eric Klein or easy to read bible stories and others are direct scriptures of the age-old religion. 

The view is divided over the minuses and pluses of religion.

ü  People who are for religion often depicting it as something that gives humanity sense and purpose, as well as giving a moral compass for people to find their way.

ü  Those who are against religion, portray it as an illogical and the restrictive force that traditionally has brought about prejudice, wars, and oppression.

• Religion brings meaning to people’s lives. It brings hope. Without a sense of meaning, people’s lives can seem empty, causing angst, depression, or anxiety. Human beings need some form of interesting force. 
• Religion can give social coherence, with people sharing common values, aims, and moral systems. It inspires people to just create. 
• Holy teachings and books, such as the Koran, Bible, or Hindu Vedas, contain great wisdom which is beneficial to all mankind and provides useful points of reference. Reading religious books help answer top questions about god. 
• In a varying world, religion provides a sense of stability and a dependable foundation stone. Rites and rituals offer comfort and formation for people as they ride the rollercoaster of life.

The Cons

• It has been a source of war on the disagreement between people ever since people began believing in it. Religious people tend to think that their specific religion is the only right one and all the others are fake. 
• It has caused or encouraged bigotry against minority groups, such as women, gay people, and ethnic groups. They have failed to understand Jesus’ love and Jesus’ history.
• Unscrupulous leaders have used religion to enhance themselves.
• It is said that religions are fundamentally man-made, rather than beautifully inspired. People are encouraged to live a false impression, basically a form of escapism.
